The Self-Access e-Learning Mode in Language Learning

Self-Access Electronic Learning is the trend in language learning in tertiary education, this method have both advantages and disadvantages. (Klassen, 1998) The flexibility is the very first advantage of Self-access e-learning, students can learn language at any time, in any place, and especially the development of wireless network is very mature and sufficient nowadays. However, the guidance is always the major problem in Self-access e-learning; teachers may find very hard to guide or control the learning process of students, whereas students also find lack of instant feedback when they are trying Self-access e-learning.

More and more schools and institutes teaching with technologies to enhance effectiveness (Bates & Poole, 2003; Mitrovic, Suraweera, Martin & Weerasinghe, 2004), it is a very important issue to get feedback from teachers and students about Self-Access E-Learning. This study is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness and sharing the learning experience of 4-year full-time undergraduate students in Chinese writing learning module in the Hong Kong Institute of Education. To obtain teachers and students perceptions on Self-access e-learning and traditional classroom learning, questionnaire survey will be presented.
