When we think about teacher's burned out, lack of interest for teaching or lack of purpose syndrome, we tend to think of primary and secondary school teachers. However, now-a-days, higher education faculty can also be exposed to the same kind of pressures than primary and secondary school teachers regarding teaching and bureaucratic load and tend to face too their teaching duties in isolation. Adding to this fact, we should take into account that higher education faculty is also expected to carry out research, disseminate research finding and develop national and international recognition for their scientific work (Sancho, 2001). In this complex scenario senior faculty can find hard to keep their interest in teaching. In this paper we explore and discuss how fostering collaborative work among faculty belonging to different fields of knowledge, as done by the members of Indaga’t innovative teaching group of the University of Barcelona, can keep and increase senior faculty enthusiasm for teaching to meet the current challenges faced by higher education institutions around the world.
